On December 21, 2021, God called Melvin Rollins home to be at rest. He was born on February 27, 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama - the second eldest of seven children. Melvin was born to the late Oda B. Rollins-York and Carter Rollins. Melvin moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1960. Everyone who knew him, knew that he loved listening to Blues, watching Westerns, riding motorcycles, and was the BEST backyard mechanic in Ohio. Although he was not to be played with, with a known temper out of this world, he was also a real comedian (only second to his infamous celebrity look-a-like, Red Fox).
Melvin leaves behind, to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, his wife, Bessie Holsey-Rollins of Euclid, Ohio; his five daughters, Melvina Saxton (Debra) of Cleveland, OH, Marilyn Jones of Cleveland, OH;, Melba Holsey of Waldorf, MD; Melanie Holsey of White Plains, MD; and Melita Holsey-Drake (Gene) of Cleveland Heights, OH; and one son, Melvin Saxton (Scarlet) of Duluth, GA. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren (including one special great-grandson, Namani Holsey, whom he called "Jumpin Jack"), one sister, Patricia Landers (Tyrone); two brothers, Woodrow Rollins and Marvin Rollins (Tammy), aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by two special grandsons, Maurice Jones and Deontaye Holsey; two sisters, Michelle Harris and Elzora Rollins; and one brother, Darryl Rollins (Loretta).
