Jerry Jerome Scott

Jerry Jerome Scott aka G-Ball age 60, died unexpectedly on August 4th while grocery shopping at Aldi’s.

Jerry Jerome Scott was born on May 23, 1960, in Michigan City, Indiana. Years later his mother Laverne Brown relocated him and his two older brothers to Cleveland, Ohio. As a child Jerry enjoyed collecting pop-bottles, making sling shots, playing with peashooters, and playing marbles. He would also carry groceries to make some spare change. Another past time that Jerry shared with his brothers was fixing and rebuilding their bikes out of old bike parts. He also made his own go-kart. Most evenings he spent time playing games that his sisters enjoyed too like hide-and-seek, kick the can, and tag.

From Jerry to G-BALL! Once the family moved to Brightwood, in East Cleveland, He was given the nickname G-Ball. G-BALL as he was known by his East Cleveland family and new friends he met along the way, was loved by everyone.

He was a rare combination of someone who had a love for enjoying life and a firm understanding of what was important -helping others and the simplicity of living life with family and friends.

His acute awareness of a life lived with the ones he loved over any material possession was only handicapped by the love he had for his car which he affectionately named Betsey. It was his beloved Betsey that allowed him to have his own on demand transportation service where he had repeat clientele.

Jerry enjoyed grilling, washing Betsey, watching wrestling and westerns, playing dominoes, horseshoe, family time, and spending time with his friends (The Brew Crew). He also enjoyed watching gangster movies and his favorite movie of all time was The Five Heartbeats which he made everyone watch a thousand of times.

Jerry proclaimed himself the best cook in the family and a grill master. His favorite dishes were pork steaks, pinto beans, banana pudding, baked chicken, and glory greens.

Of all the people he touched, willingly and unwillingly, his proudest achievement in life was being the best uncle and great uncle to all his nieces and nephews. They knew they could always call him to talk or get a ride somewhere even if he cussed them out first.

He was fond of saying three phrases “Buck, Buck, Buck”, “Wit Cho Monkey Ass”, and “Blew Out”.

The way he died is just like he lived: he wrote his own rules, he was a giver and helped everyone he met. And if you needed something and he had it. It was yours. His last act of giving was through eye and skin donation to help give someone the gift of sight and help burn victims.

Jerry Jerome Scott leaves behind four brothers; Norman Brown (Detroit, Michigan), Charles Brown, Dennis Brown, and Isreal Brown. Four sisters; Brenda Hudgins (Kevin), Judy Martin (Tyrus(deceased)), Gwendolyn Davis, SueVone Kinney (Vance). A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Laverne Brown, Aunts Virginia Banks and Betty Lee, Uncle Isaac Davis Jr., and cousins Otis Davis and Craig Banks.
