Ebonita Williams Obituary

Ebonita (Nita) was born on Wednesday, September 6, 1972, to Deborah Williams and Elbert Blevins. She was the second of four children. Nita was an athlete and often hung with her older brother (Gene) and served as his primary receiving target when they played football against the other neighborhood kids. Nita was very athletic and one of the neighborhood's fastest children. She graduated from Beaumont High School in Cleveland Heights, OH, in 1990 and was a six time State Champion in track. The Beaumont High School 1990 track team is regarded as one of the greatest ever; they scored 98 points in the state meet. During the State Track Meet, Nita finished first in the 100 Hurdles and 300 hurdles and was part of the winning 4x400 and 4x100 relays. She was recently inducted into Beaumont High School's Hall of Fame as a member of that legendary team. Nita spent her summers running track for the Rebels Track Club. After high school she received a full track scholarship to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, ultimately graduating with a bachelor's degree. During college, she continued to be recognized for her outstanding athletic ability and was the Mid-American Conference Champion in the 400 hurdles. She met her lifelong companion, Brian Wells, while in high school, and to them, a child Keith Wells was born in 1997. They stayed together until her passing (33 years). In her free time, she loved watching movies, track & field, taking walks by the lake (with her family), and spending time with family. Nita worked various jobs, but her most cherished job was being Keith's mom. She was a doting mother and loved cooking her son's favorite meals and helping him with his homework and other life lessons.

Nita departed this world peacefully on December 10, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves to mourn longtime companion Brian Wells, son Keith Wells, mother Deborah Willoughby, stepfather Charles Willoughby, Grandmother Edith Williams, brothers Eugene Williams (Dakota) and DeQuan Willoughby (Lisa), sister Dianne Williams (Kirby), a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, former teammates, and many friends. Nita will be dearly missed.
