Damon Brown Obituary

Damon Pythias Brown, born February 21, 1922 in Poteau, Oklahoma, was the seventh of nine children born of Manuel and Dora (Cahill) Brown of Poteau, Oklahoma. His parents, brothers and sisters all preceded him in death.

Damon enlisted in the Navy, serving three years in the South Pacific. In 1946, Damon met and later married Dorothy Hawkins of Ft. Smith, AR. In 1952, Damon and Dorothy migrated to Cleveland, OH. Upon arriving, they united with Lane Metropolitan CME Church. During his faithful service, he was a member of Steward Board #2 and #3, Chairman of the Board of Evangelism and Missions, Recording Secretary, Youth Director, and Men's Chorus.

When he first arrived in Cleveland, Damon was employed by the Cleveland Transit System. Later he became a licensed real estate agent with LaCasa Realty. Damon and his devoted wife of over fifty-five years, adored traveling across the southwest through Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

He is revered as a faithful man of God who loved to discuss the Bible, a loving and devoted husband, and a cherished uncle and a true friend. One young man articulated that Br.
Brown taught him how to be a man. Damon had a kind, gentle spirit and often enjoyed a good joke and watching sports on TV.

Damon Pythias Brown fought a good fight, he finished his course and he kept the faith: henceforth, there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness which the righteous judge shall give to him at that day. He leaves a legacy of love to a host of nieces and nephews in Kansas, Missouri, Washington D.C. Florida, and Texas as well as many loving friends in Cleveland and Lane Metropolitan Church.
