Cecelia Carson Obituary

Cecelia F. Carson, known to most as CeCe, was born on October 14, 1965 to the late Cedric H. and Clara Mae Lewis in Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up, she had many different interests but was introduced to the kitchen at a young age. In preparing meals for her parents and siblings, she developed a true passion for cooking, which became her gift to this world. Raised in a Christian home, they attended Beth-El A.M.E Zion Church. She attended the Cleveland Public School system and graduated from West Technical High School in 1983.

After graduating, she attended Cuyahoga Community College. CeCe then worked as a computer data operator at NASA for several years. She then became the senior computer data operator while working for General Electric.

Cecelia met Brett Carson in 1987 and they united in marriage on November 26, 1994. On January 15, 1995 they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Nicolette. In 1997, they joined Apostolic Church of Christ in Oakwood Village where CeCe was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the gift of the Holy Spirit. She was a very active and faithful member, serving as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher, Assistant Youth Director, Head Usher, member of the Women’s Ministry and Shepherd’s Committee, church treasurer, choir member and Audio Tech for the Partners in Prayer group.

CeCe’s love for the youth extended beyond the church. She opened a daycare in her home to care for family and friend’s children before attending Sanford Brown College in 2008 where she received a certificate in Medical Coding & Billing. She was always willing to help with events and activities during Nicolette’s school years at Whitney M. Young Leadership Academy, even becoming the co-class advisor. You could always find her daughter and her friends or “other children” as she called them in her home. She loved to entertain family and friends as well. If she welcomed you in, you never left without a wonderful meal or her famous Lemon Cream Cheese Pound cake that could start a fight.

In 2014, Cecelia and Brett moved to Greensboro, NC. She then relocated to Portsmouth, VA in 2016 where she found a job as a cook for the CDC daycare center on the Naval Base. She also found her new church home, The Mount. There, she was a greeter and an active member.

On January 8, 2021, Cecelia transitioned, leaving us to cherish her love and warm smile in our hearts forever.

She leaves her memory to former husband and friend, Brett; loving daughter Nicolette; sister, Cynthia; twin brothers Cedric (Monica) and Kenneth (Raquel); nephew, Naval and nieces, Alexis and Gabrielle; Uncles James and Allen; and special “sister-cousin”, Fedilias; and a host of other close family, friends and loved ones.
