Brenda Foster Obituary

Brenda Foster was born on January 30, 1953, the youngest of three daughters. Her mother Jessie Mae Foster (Alvis) and father Acie Clifford Foster preceded her in death.

Born in Cleveland Ohio, Brenda was educated in the Cleveland Public School System. She survived pneumonia as an infant and that left her with chronic Asthma for most of her life. She worked various jobs, once as a clerk in the Burger King Franchise, a factory worker with various companies throughout the city, and a building manager. Brenda studied to be a Nurse's aide but the strenuous labor and the chemical smells would sometimes trigger an asthma attack.

One of her childhood dreams was to become a singer. She had a very nice sound and her voice carried a beautiful melody. The song she practiced all of the time with her friend Carol was Wait Mr. Postman from the Marvellette's. She later was joined by Joselyn and their group sang at every talent show given at the East End Neighborhood house. Her favorite female artists were Aretha Franklin the Supremes, the Marvelettes, Minnie Riperton and Erykah Badu'

Brenda accepted Christ as her personal savior. She prayed for her family and her friends daily. She often said "God knows me, but more importantly I'm saved and I know God and that is how it should be".

Brenda was quiet and shy until you got to know her. When you did, you found that her Joy(s) in life came from her son Charles, (they remained devoted to each other for all of her life,) from Oscar her life partner for over 40 years, from music, and sports specifically the Browns and the Cavaliers.

Brenda lived her life on her terms She never wavered from her beliefs. She often told us "Whether I'm right or whether I'm wrong, I'm me." We had no choice but to respect that.

Brenda answered God's call on October 19, 2021. Preceding her in death are her parents, Her uncle Israel Alvis, her aunt Lucille Owens her Granddaughter Tabitha Foster her niece Chanette Alvis and her dear friend Robert Mims.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Her devoted son Charles Foster, Her partner in life Oscar Howard, her sisters Shelia Alvis and Patricia {Joe) Adkins, her niece Sherri Alvis, her nephews Robert (Linette) Foster, Anthony Foster, grandchildren Charles Foster Jr, and Dejanay Foster, two great grandchildren, great nephews Justin Alvis, Collin Lewis and Robert Foster Jr Her cousins Barbara (Silas) Spikes, Terry (Joyce) Dessausure, Gerald Dessausure, and a host of other extended family members and friends.
