Sonya Mitchell

Sonya Denise Jackson Mitchell was born on February 23, 1968, to the parents of Barbara Jean Jackson and Willie Curry Jr. She attended Cleveland and Lorain public schools, where she received her formal education and excelled in track.

Sonya attended Cleveland Baptist Church, where at the age of six she accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized. In her adult years she often assisted her cousin, Deborah Wade, in the ministry of Jesus Christ.

She was employed at Vocational Guidance Rehabilitation Services (V.G.S.). Sonya later met Fred Mitchell, and the two were joined in Holy Matrimony. Her husband, Fred Mitchell, preceded her in death.

Sonya was a caring, kindhearted, protective, and loving person. She was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 16, 2025.

She leaves to mourn her siblings: Christopher (wife Veronica), Janice (husband John), Willie (wife Rosa), Monsanto (husband Jerome), and Vanessa (husband Felix), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
