Shanell Renee Rabb, born on December 12, 1984, to Sonya Shumpert and John Rabb Sr., passed away on March 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Shanell attended the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, devoted daughter, caring sister, cherished cousin, and loyal friend whose presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone around her.
Shanell had a passion for the simple joys in life. She enjoyed doing hair, cooking, watching children, and spending quality time with her loved ones. Her love for children and babies was especially evident-she had a natural nurturing spirit that made her a source of comfort and care for many. In her teenage years, she met Brian Gardner, and together they were blessed with three beautiful children, who became the center of her world.
Shanell's presence was truly a gift. She had a warm spirit that could light up any room and a heart full of compassion for everyone she encountered. As a mother, she was loving, caring, and deeply devoted. As a daughter, she was a source of pride and a strong, loving connection. To her siblings, cousins, and friends, Shanell was more than family-she was a confidant, a supporter, and someone who could always be counted on. She loved deeply and gave freely, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her mother, Sonya Shumpert of Cleveland, Ohio; her father, John Rabb Sr. of Cleveland, Ohio; her daughters, Bry'Yona Gardner and Kyla Gardner; her son, Carl Gardner; her grandchildren, Nyore Clark and Ivey Clark; her brothers, Frankie Jackson Jr. and John Rabb Jr.; her sister, Tiffany Hart of South Carolina; and her grandmother, Ina Shumpert. and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Shanell was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hattie and Willie Rabb, Louis Shumpert, and her nephew, Frankie Jackson III.
Shanell shared an especially deep and unbreakable bond with her cousins Ashlee Slater, Shenesce Fitzgerald, and Gregory Fitzgerald. Their relationship was rooted in love, loyalty, and lifelong friendship. Together, they created countless memories filled with laughter, support, and understanding. Shanell leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable moments that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will forever remain. Shanell Renee Rabb will be deeply missed and forever loved.
