It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Rocky Dee Castleman. Rocky was born Rochelle D. Castleman. She passed away recently at the age of 69 due to heart disease.
Rocky, as she was fondly known, was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a lifelong learner. After graduating from John Hay High School, she took classes at several institutions as far afield as the University of Colorado and the University of California at Claremore to learn about astronomy and aeronautics. Closer to home she attended the University of Toledo. Rocky graduated first from Cuyahoga Community College and later from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Rocky had been a licensed pilot, entrepreneur, and was a talented artist.
Through the years Rocky had a passion for many things including martial arts, astronomy, and a variety of collectibles.
Rocky is survived by her siblings Edwin Castleman (Marilyn), Ellen Richardson (Steven), her niece Simone Castleman (Ronnie), and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ollie B. Castleman and her sister, Barbara L. Castleman.
Rocky will be cremated and her life will be celebrated in a private family gathering. We will miss her dearly but take comfort in the fact that she is now in a better place, free from all pain and suffering. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
