Raymond Nathaniel Edwards affectionally known as "Ray" and to others "Silver Fox", was born November 27, 1934, to the late Rosa Lee Robinson and Nathaniel Edwards in Paige, West Virginia. Raymond was the eldest of four siblings, Wallace, Michael, & Inez Edwards.
Raymond relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1952, where he met Minnie Louise Williamson. That same year on October 25th, they married. Ray and Lou enjoyed 70 years of marriage and had nine children together.
Raymond was a jack of many trades; After serving in the United States Army, he became a truck driver and a long-term employee of National Car Mart. He also was a business owner of several bars. Later he went on to work at PCC Airfoils where he retired.
Raymond enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and was a lover of The Blues. He received Christ at an early age and was a member of Second St. Luke's Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an Usher.
Raymond departed this life the morning of August 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Edwards; mother, Rosa Lee Robinson; father, Nathanial Edwards; brother, Wallace Edwards; children, Diane Edwards, Raymond Edwards Jr, Joyce Chandler, Raymond Howard, and Rominta Edwards.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memory two siblings, Michael, and Inez Edwards; daughters, Kathy Smith (Jerry), Secondia Rawls (Gilbert), Angela Nelson (Stephen), Deborah Simpson (Larry), Sherry Edwards, and Kimberly Edwards Brown; one son, Kenneth Kilgore Sr. (Sharron); and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews as well as other family and friends that loved him dearly.
