Rashawn Smith

December 12, 1970 — November 10, 2025

Rashawn Antonio Smith, affectionately known as "Tony," was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 12, 1970, to the late Charles Anthony Smith and Karen Alletha Smith.

Tony graduated from Shaw High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Navy, where he faithfully served two terms. Upon returning home to Cleveland, he worked for the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department for several years. He later worked for the Cleveland School Board and, most recently, for Federal Express. Tony departed this life peacefully on November 10, 2025.

He loved sitting on the porch with his mother, Karen, having long conversations about life and future goals. He valued her opinion and leaned on her faith, knowing he had a praying and God-loving mother who helped him stay grounded. Tony also cherished spending time with his brother, Kevin, and his bonus father, Hank.

Tony was baptized at an early age and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed family gatherings, from cookouts to dinners, and loved watching sports with relatives. Installing Fire Sticks became both a hobby and a side business-he had plenty of satisfied customers. He loved football and basketball and never missed the chance to join the family for sports get-togethers. A talented cook, Tony was known for bringing his special roast beef to Thanksgiving. He was a kind and gentle soul who will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his biological father, Charles Anthony Smith; his uncle, Detective Michael Wayne Smith; his maternal grandparents, Willie and Viola Parker; and his paternal grandparents, William and Sarah Smith.

Tony leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Karen; his bonus father, Henry (Hank); his devoted brother, Kevin; his bonus sister, Elizabeth (Lizzie); his aunt, Darlene; his niece, Moriah (Zzsam); his nephews, Kevon, Kevin, Christian, and Christopher; the Parker, Galloway, and Thompson families; and a host of other relatives and friends.
