Presley Lee Butler was born March 2, 1935, in Chidester, Arkansas to the late James Tume and Corine Butler. He had one brother, Lark. Presley attended Pleasant Hill High School through the 10th grade when he left school to help his mother after his father's passing. He enjoyed hunting and fishing - especially hunting.
Presley married Opal Dean Williams in 1957 and they had one child together, Presley R. Butler. Opal and Presley would later divorce. Presley followed his brother Lark to Cleveland, Ohio in 1960. He was a part of the Great Migration, the movement of more than six million African Americans from rural southern states to the North, seeking better opportunities. After moving to Cleveland, he met and married Lillie Mae Tate. Presley and Lillie Mae were happily married for more than fifty-three years. Together they raised nine children: Barbara Ann Tate, Tina Regina Tate (deceased), Donald Ray Tate, Cornelius "Pinky" Tate (deceased), Willie "Bubby" Tate (deceased), William "Ducky" Tate, Aretha Lynn Tate (deceased), Marvin "Vel" Lovell Butler and Presley "Boo" Lee Butler, Jr.
Presley spent most of his career working for Waste Management as a truck driver. He loved his wife Lillie Mae's cooking, playing pool and his numbers. He also enjoyed watching football with his sons and grandsons, his favorite player was Peyton Manning.
Presley Butler was called home to the Lord on March 1, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memory; his children, Presley R. Butler, Barbara Anne Tate, Donald Ray Tate, William "Ducky" Tate, Marvin "Vel" Lovell Butler, Presley "Boo" Lee Butler, Jr; four children preceded him in death, as did his brother Lark and wife Lillie Mae. He is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved relatives and friends.
