Pamela Johnson

November 26, 1950 — September 10, 2025

Pamela Johnson, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love, was born Pamela Lee Lewis on November 26, 1950. She peacefully transitioned on September 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was the beloved daughter of Eunice and George Lewis, and the dear sister of Anthony Morgan, Teresa and Charles Nickens, Linda and Theodore Howard. Pamela was also blessed with lifelong best friends who became family, Ernest "Punchy" Smith and Jacqueline "Fuzzy" Waller.

Pamela was a devoted mother to five children: Exavier Lewis (Doretha), Byron Jackson (Danita), Robert King (deceased), Devon Johnson, and Roberta Carson. She was adored by her fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pamela married the love of her life, Reverend Dale Johnson. Their marriage brought her new experiences and perspectives, grounded in love and faith. Reverend Johnson preceded her in death on May 2, 2010, yet Pamela carried on their legacy with strength and grace.

She was known for her unwavering resilience, her feisty spirit, and the warmth she extended to all. Music was a constant joy in her life; she and her husband often spent nights cooking and dancing together, filling their home with laughter.

Pamela believed family was defined not only by blood but also by the bonds we form. She found profound joy in her spiritual family at Universal Hagar Spiritual Church, where she embraced her brothers and sisters in Christ and served faithfully.

In later years, Pamela enjoyed walking her beloved dog, Rocky, through the neighborhood, connecting with friends and fellow pet owners. She delighted in attending her grandchildren's events, often sneaking them candy and money with a grandmother's playful love. Her favorite moments included curling up in bed with Rocky, watching Law & Order: SVU, and joyfully talking back to the screen as Rocky barked along.

Even in her final moments, Pamela was surrounded by family, laughter, and compassion. Her radiant humor and light remained steadfast, a gift to all who loved her.

Though we mourn, our tears will in time become tears of joy as we remember the countless ways Pamela touched our lives. Her love, laughter, strength, and faith remain her enduring legacy.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
