Today we honor the life of Mozelle Sharee Taylor, lovingly known to us as Moby.
Moby was a woman of deep faith, strong love, and real truth. Every morning, no matter what was going on in life, she started her day with her Bible. That was her foundation. She didn't just read the Word, she lived it, quietly, consistently, and without needing recognition.
Moby was soft and nurturing, but she was also strong. She didn't sugarcoat anything. If you asked her something, you were going to get the truth, whether you were ready for it or not. And even then, it was always wrapped in love.
She loved her family fiercely. If you were one of her babies, you already knew. One of the things she always said was, "Don't mess with my baby," and she meant that with her whole heart. Although she was blessed with all boys, Moby would smile and say that God gave her girls through her granddaughters. She cherished that bond deeply. To her granddaughters, she poured love, affirmation, and strength, greeting them with "Grand rising, queen," reminding them of who they were and whose they were.
She believed in caring for the spirit as much as the body, often reminding us to take a spiritual bath, light a candle, and cleanse the spirit. She had a way of making people feel covered-covered in prayer, covered in honesty, covered in love.
Moby showed up fully, loved deeply, and left nothing unsaid. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit, her lessons, and her love will live on in each of us forever.
A Grandmother's Love
You were more than my grandmother,
you were love in its purest form.
The kind of love that wrapped around us, quiet, patient, and always there.
You loved without asking for anything back, gave without keeping count.
Your arms were safety,
your heart was home.
Your faith showed through the way you lived, with your Bible close and prayers whispered softly. You covered us in ways we may never fully understand, but we felt it every day.
Even now, your love surrounds me,
in the strength you left behind,
in the lessons you taught without words,
and in the peace you planted in my heart.
Your love lives on in us,
today and always.
