Mary Lee Smith

Obituary

Mary Lee Smith was born on April 8, 1935, in Marion, Alabama, to the parents of Willie Hatch and Rosana Hatch. Mary was one of four children: Porter Scott Jr., Queen Ester Bowers, and Eula Scott.

Mary later married Frank Smith Sr., and to this union six children were born: Frank Smith Jr., Pamela Ray Smith, Melvin Smith, Robert Smith, Gloria Jean Smith, and Dexter Bernard Smith..

Mary worked for years as a nurse's assistant and as a private duty nurse. Mary retired from working for the Cleveland School Board of Education. Mary was a member for many years at Starlight Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to downtown Cleveland.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Willie & Rosanna Hatch; three siblings, Porter Scott Jr., Queen Ester Bowers, Eula Scott; and four sons, Donald., Melvin Smith, Robert Smith, Dexter Bernard Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Frank Smith Jr, and Gloria Jean Smith; 11 grandchildren, Lakeshia, Melvina, LaNeece, William, Richard, Lashonda, Ashlee, Angela, Jeremy, Kimberly, Robert Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren, Brionna, Troy Pride Jr., Chance, Trinity, Carter, Weston, Marie, Kari, Jasmine, and LeRon; two great-great-grandchildren, Roman, Kaleb.
