Listen to Obituary

Luther Martin was born on October 12, 1953, to Barbara Jean Vines Martin and Luther Carlton Martin, Sr. He was one of five children born to this union. Luther departed this life and entered eternal glory on June 5, 2026. He was preceded in death by two siblings, his sister, Danell Martin, and his brother, Jamie Martin.

Luther attended and graduated from the Cleveland Public Schools. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served for a short period of time before returning to his hometown of Cleveland.

Luther spent 35 years incarcerated, a period of his life that transformed him in ways that only God could have made possible. During that time, he gave his life to Christ and developed a deep love for the Lord. He spoke of Him constantly and remained a faithful servant of the Lord until his death. Luther devoted himself to studying the Word of God and sharing it with others. In 2001, he completed studies through Boyce Bible College, a school of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and became involved in many prison ministry initiatives while serving time.

Luther became a vessel of God, allowing the Lord to speak through him and touch the lives of many. Through his faith, testimony, and ministry, many lives were transformed and led to follow Christ. He was especially impactful through his involvement in the EMBARK Program and Kairos Ministry. Luther's unwavering love and devotion to Jesus touched everyone he encountered.

Luther leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Eunice Martin (Bonnie); his brother, Marvin Martin; his son, Jamil Bunner, Sr.; his daughter, Janeen Martin; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many other family members; and many close friends who served with him in ministry.

Luther was also blessed to have a special niece, Karmika Martin, who lovingly served as his devoted caregiver throughout his illness.
