Lawrence Edward Scott Sr. was born November 9, 1932. He was the eldest of four children born to Lawrence C. and Olivia M. Scott.
Lawrence, affectionately known as Larry, attended East Technical High School and at 17 years old he entered the United States Air Force serving as a air traffic controller in Okinawa, Japan for four years.
In October 1955, Larry married his wife of 46 years, Willie Gray Ferguson Scott who preceded him in death in 2001. From this union five children were born, Valerie, Lawrence Jr Darrell (Belinda), Robin (Bobby), and Christopher.
Larry worked tirelessly at The Cleveland Press until its closing and subsequently for The City of Cleveland Water Department, ultimately retiring at the age of 84 years old.
Larry played fast pitch baseball, receiving several trophies for his outstanding ability. He was also an avid reader, a pastime he instilled in his children.
Larry was a father, husband, and employee, whose work ethic defined his lifestyle. Larry actively participated in the upbringing of his grandchildren, and his love and enthusiasm was evident to all who knew him.
Larry's gregarious, outspoken personality and his passion for life and Cleveland sports will not be forgotten by those who loved him.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory five children, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. One brother, Randell (Sabra), one sister, Nana Lee Hardy, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Larry died peacefully on December 9, 2022 at the age of 90 years old.
