John Carson

John H. Carson, Jr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 3, 1929 to John H., Sr. and Arnetta Carson. His parents divorced when he was nine years old. Mr. Carson and his siblings, L. Gilbert Carson (deceased) and Lillian Carson, were raised by their mother as a single parent. Arnetta Carson passed away in 2007 at the age of 95. John H. Carson, Sr. is also deceased. Mr. Carson is a 1947 graduate of John Hay High School.


After high school, Mr. Carson worked from 1947 to 1949 as a bellman at the Cleveland Hotel. In 1949, he began his studies at Kent State University as an Accounting Major. While in college, he worked at the Ravenna Arsenal from 1952 to 1953. In 1954, Mr. Carson graduated with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State University.


From 1954 to 1956, Mr. Carson was in the United States Army where he was a graduate SP4 M.O.S. Clerk Typist. He attended basic training at Camp Chalae in Arkansas. He was also deployed overseas to La Rochelle, France. On July 31, 1956, Mr. Carson was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army.


In 1957, he began working as an Accountant for the Airport Parking Company. In 1966, Mr. Carson left the Airport Parking Company to begin his legal career. He joined the distinguished Norman S. Minor and Floyd B. Oliver in private practice. In 1969, Mr. Carson joined the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office and worked as an Assistant County Prosecutor until 1972.


In 1972, Mr. Carson again joined Floyd B. Oliver in private practice. He has remained in private practice to the present. Over the years, Mr. Carson has been associated in the practice of law with John W. Martin, Spiros Gonakis, Andy Petropouleas and Jeffrey Saffold. From 1972 to 1975, Mr. Carson also worked part-time as an Assistant to the Attorney General. From 1978 to 1986, Mr. Carson was also owner of the historic Lancer Steak House located at 7707 Carnegie Avenue in the City of Cleveland.


Mr. Carson is a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. In his spare time, Mr. Carson is a member of the NAACP (life member); the Norman S. Minor Bar Association; the Ohio Bar Association; the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. Mr. Carson is also an avid golfer and enjoys attending various golf outings with the CNN GA Golf Club.
