Joann Kelley was born on November 7, 1948, in Limestone County, Alabama. She was lovingly raised by her mother, Marie Peoples, and her grandparents, Alex and Deliah, alongside her three siblings as well as her special cousin Marie Farrar Hines.

In her twenties, Joann relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, to begin a new chapter of life with her husband and their children. A devoted homemaker, she was known for her strong, loving nature and her passion for sports. Her home was guided by a "family-first" philosophy, where love, discipline, and tradition as well as her belief in Christianity was deeply rooted.

Joann cherished the holidays, often found preparing pounds of chitlins and joyfully playing with her grandchildren. She delighted in baking her signature coconut cake and had fun trying to guess the next winning Ohio Lottery numbers.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Peoples; her sister, Julia Mae Houston; and her brother, Roger Peoples .

Joann leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, James Kelley; her brother, James Peoples; her five children-Charlotte Redus, Neal Peoples, Darlene Kelley, Lisa Kelley, and Beverly Kelley; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
