Emell Webb

December 30, 1923 — July 11, 2011

Emell Webb was born on December 30, 1923, in Bushnell, Florida, to the late Grant and Easter Lawrence Parson. She was the fourth of six siblings.

She received her formal education in the Sumter County Public School System in Bushnell, Florida, and later in the Marion County Public School System in Ocala, Florida. Emell accepted Christ at an early age in Bushnell and, upon relocating to Cleveland, Ohio, became a faithful member of Werner United Methodist Church, now Celebration United Methodist Church.

Emell was active in her street club for many years and enjoyed the fellowship of several women's social groups. On August 13, 1943, she was united in holy matrimony with Walter Matthew Webb in Orlando, Florida, where he was stationed during World War II. Their union was blessed with two children. They shared 35 years of marriage, celebrating this milestone in 1978, just prior to Walter's passing on January 12, 1979.

Following the war, Emell and Walter relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. She worked at the National Screw Manufacturing Company, Standard Knitting Mill, and Ohio Knitting Mill, where she eventually retired. She was highly skilled in her profession and demonstrated a strong work ethic that became a model for her children.

Throughout her life, Emell enjoyed sewing, wood carving, Bible study, Sunday school, floral arranging, gardening, dancing, and cooking. She especially loved preparing and serving meals to friends and family gathered in her home.

On July 11, 2011, Emell peacefully departed this life. She was preceded in death by her sister, Christine Rushing, and three brothers, L.C. Parson, Ulysee Parson, and Robert Lee Parson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Walter Webb (Rubye); her daughter, Gloria Webb; two grandsons, Anthony and Steven; four great-grandchildren, DeAndre, Candice, Stephanie, and Steven; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Clarence Parson (Esther) of Jacksonville, Florida, and her sisters-in-law, Rosa Parson of Bushnell, Florida, and Elnora Parson of Riviera Beach, Florida. In addition, Emell leaves behind cherished cousins, devoted nieces and nephews, her dedicated church family, and a host of friends and neighbors.
