Derrick Maynard was born on December 24, 1970, in Cleveland, Ohio to Edward Maynard and Vanessa Netherly. Preceding him in death was his father Edward Maynard, his grandparents
James and Nettie Comer, Leo and Macie Maynard who loved him dearly.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a junior deacon at New Revelation Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Nathan.
Derrick was a very smart and inquisitive child. He attended Rozelle Elementary, Kirk Middle, and Shaw High School in East Cleveland, Ohio. After receiving his GED, Derrick attended a truck driving school, and became a licensed dump truck driver for 25 years working at various construction companies.
He was an excellent boxer, exceptional skater, loved listening to music and enjoyed family gatherings and functions. He also enjoying going to the casino with his mother on his birthday.
Derrick was an advocate and joy to anyone that knew him.
Another passion was riding his motorcycle with his Uncle Mark on Father’s Day.
He later met Pauline Lucky who became his lifelong friend and companion.
During this companionship they had a son, Deron.
Derrick will be missed dearly and leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Derrick Leegrand and Deron Lucky, his mother Vanessa Netherly, a sister Latisha (Chevette) Maynard, a nephew Deonte Maynard, niece Cache Stanton, Uncles James, Kenneth (Louise), Frank (Jean) Mark (Evonne), Connie Jr., Aunts Nettie (Larry), Wanda (Chris), Valerie, Shirley and a host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins, relatives and close friends.
