Courtney Lawrence Rogers was the second child of three born to Steven and Jacqueline Rogers on November 4, 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Family and friends would agree that Courtney had a very different view of the world; one that kept him motivated and eager to seek more and remain optimistic about everything that was available to him through his effort and hard work. He had many circles of relationships from Cleveland, Ohio to overseas in Spain! Courtney lived in Colorado, Spain and 10 years in Alaska. At the time of his death, he resided in Kent, Ohio.
Growing up, Courtney was affectionately known as "Court," was an avid athlete within the Shaker Heights School System then moving on to Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, PA, where he graduated high school on June 1, 1990. He soared athletically in Hockey, Wrestling and Lacrosse leading his teams to national recognition and championships. He also had an affinity for music. For many years, he played the drums and guitar for Dawson's Temple in Cleveland, Ohio.
Courtney grew up with an entrepreneurial mindset; one he ascertained from watching his parents, Jacqueline and Steve, build their businesses in Cleveland, Ohio. He continued to gravitate towards becoming an entrepreneur as he got older. After graduating from Valley Forge, he pursued a career in the financial profession becoming an investor and partner in several financial institutions. He was consistently putting together business deals and certainly had the "gift of gab." He was skilled in Venture Capital, Risk Management, Contract Negotiation and International Trade; just to name a few.
Courtney was intelligent, free spirited, a traveler, adventurer and drum & motorcycle enthusiast. He was truly emphatic in his thinking and philosophy of life and no one could change that mold. He rode his motorcycle to California and made many friends throughout the world. One of his favorite tag lines was "Infinite Love, Peace & Wisdom"! He lived his life this way.
Courtney was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
He was preceded in death by his mother Jacqueline Rogers and older brother Steven Rogers, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are: his son Miles of Ontario, Canada; daughter, Lillian of Kent, Ohio; father, Steven Rogers (Shirley); sisters, Leah, Stevona, Cristyna & Deneane; brothers, Raymond & Steve; uncles, Eugene Davis (Jackie), Mark Daniels (Brenda), and Les King; aunts, Barbara Daniels-Brown, Jannie Williams, & LuFreda Pyles and a host of nephews, cousins, other relatives and a special lifetime friend J. J. Scaravilli. We will all miss him.
