Clancy Mae Berry was born on August 24th, 1926 in Hepzibah Georgia to the union of the late Carmie Sr. and Sarah Bryant. She was the 4th of 6 children.
She accepted Christ at age 12 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hepzibah Georgia, under the pastorate of Rev. Warren Jones. She was educated in the Hepzibah Public Schools.
On April 19, 1941, Clancy was united in Holy Matrimony to her beloved husband, John E. Berry Sr. To this union, 5 children were born. They were married almost 70 years until his passing. She was a devoted wife and mother.
In 1943, she and her husband moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Soon after, she and her husband joined Liberty Hill Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Marion F. Washington.
She was employed by University Hospitals of Cleveland, where she received her training and certificate for Nursing Assistants. She was a dedicated and caring employee for her patients. She retired after 26 years of service from the Intensive Care Unit.
Clancy's main focus in life was her love for family and her devotion to her friends and church community. She was a dedicated member of the Sunday School, the Senior Matrons, Golden age Seniors, the concert choir and the Wednesday noon Bible study class.
She was one who people were drawn to, having many telephone friends, always making sure to keep up with the sick and shut in. Often, she and her husband would spend many days visiting members in the hospital and nursing homes.
She was secretary of the Friends Social Club, that lasted over 40 years.
She has joined her husband in Heaven, John E. Berry Sr. and leaves to mourn her passing, 4 sons John Jr. (Brenda), George A. (Karen), Charles T. (Margaret), Steven A. and daughter Detra. 19 grandchildren and over 35 great, and great- great grandchildren. Nieces, Nephews, cousins, her special sister, Mrs. Willa Washington and friends.
Her sisters Margaret Simmons (Henry), Willa Mae Wiley (Washington), Lula(Tom) and Sarah (Robert), and her brother Carmie (Angie) all preceded her in death.
