Charles Q. Dixon

Charles Quinn Dixon was born on December 3, 1953, in Charlotte, North Carolina, the third child born to Nathan L. Dixon and Gwendolyn L. Frazier.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Nathaniel Richard Dixon; and his beloved son, Cory L. Dixon. He is survived by his brother, Michael Ronald Dixon and his wife, Sandria, of Temecula, California, and his sister, Robbie Regina Dixon of Cleveland, Ohio.

In 1955, Charles' parents relocated the family to Cleveland, Ohio, where they raised their children in the Roman Catholic faith. Charles and his siblings attended St. Agatha School and were active members of St. Agatha Church. After completing grade school, he attended Glenville High School. Following graduation, Charles proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country honorably before receiving an Honorable Discharge.

Upon returning home, Charles held several jobs before beginning a career in maintenance at MetroHealth Hospital. During this time, he met and married Gail Brown. Their union was blessed with two children, Cory L. Dixon and Gwen Dixon, who was lovingly named after Charles' mother. Although their marriage eventually ended, Charles and Gail remained devoted to raising their children and cherishing their grandchildren.

From childhood, Charles had a deep love for football and was a lifelong, devoted Cleveland Browns fan. If no one was available to play, he was just as happy tossing the football by himself. Throughout his youth, he faced significant health challenges that required frequent hospital stays and continued to affect him throughout his life. Despite these obstacles, Charles refused to let his health define him, choosing instead to live with determination and resilience.

Charles later joined the maintenance staff at Quicken Loans Arena, where he continued to put his skills to work for approximately ten years. Eventually, ongoing health issues required him to step away from his career. During this time, he was lovingly cared for by his family, especially his brother Michael, sister-in-law Sandria, sister Robbie, and Steven Goldsmith, whose love and support remained constant until Charles was called home on January 7, 2017.

Affectionately known as "Chuckles," Charles had a personality that brought laughter wherever he went. Entertaining, thoughtful, and philosophical, he always had something to say. Those who knew him will never forget his favorite expression whenever something didn't seem right: "This is bullshit." More often than not, he was right.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Gwen Dixon; his brother, Michael Ronald Dixon and sister-in-law, Sandria Dixon, of Temecula, California; his sister, Robbie Regina Dixon, and her significant other, Steven Goldsmith, of Cleveland, Ohio; his grandchildren, the children of Cory and Gwen; nieces Randi, Shannon, Stephanie Dixon, Alexis Bowman, Monica Dixon, Dana Dixon, Tashena Parker, McKeeva, and Natalie; nephews Theodore Dixon and Robert Parker; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
