Charles Copes

Charles Copes, affectionately known as Chuck Fresh born on February 16, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio, Charles graduate from East High school Home of the Mighty Blue Bombers. He married Rhonda Allen, and Charles passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the age of 67. A dedicated maintenance worker and skilled tow motor operator, Charles spent his career contributing to various roles, including property management. His hard work and dedication left a lasting impact on many in the community.

Charles was known for his love of family and his deep enjoyment of taking children to special events. He cherished attending wrestling, football, and basketball games, creating unforgettable memories with his loved ones. He embraced the joys of the holiday season by visiting family and friends, ensuring that bonds were strengthened with each gathering. One of his proudest achievements was purchasing his own home and remodeling it to his liking, showcasing both his practical skills and personal style.

With a remarkable 25 years of sobriety, Charles exemplified strength and resilience, proving that transformation is possible. He is survived by two sons, Charles Mackey (his mother, Wilhelmina Mackey), and Tevin Copes; two sisters, Linda Copes, and Vernessa Copes; one brother, Cortez Sander; one niece, Desire "Pig"Riddle; six nephews, Arlene Copes, Dewayne Luckett, Dontez Copes, Steven Riddle, Derrick Copes, and Anthony Riddle; four grandsons, Charles Harris , Caiyden Mackey, Carter Susemihl, and Yuri Copes; one aunt, Mildred Copes; one uncle, Earl (Lauren) Copes, longtime partner, Trichia Reese; special friends, Daniel & Carmeka Ashford, the Allen Family & Sullivan Family.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda Allen, his parents, Clifford Ware & Marion Copes; one son, Peter Nelson Jr, one brother, Anthony Copes, and his brother-in-law, Terrance Allen.
