Charles Allen

Charles Edward Allen, better known to his friends and family as "Chuckie," was born on April 2, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the parentage of Nolan Allen Sr. and Rachel Allen, both of whom preceded him in death.

Charles attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from John Hay High School in 1973. He had a passion for fixing cars and brought joy and laughter to many throughout his life.

Charles worked as a spray painter for Horn Spray Auto Shop and later began a new career with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (R.T.A.). After retiring from R.T.A., he became self-employed as a general contractor and mechanic.

In 1985, Charles was baptized at Mount Esther Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as an ordained deacon. He enjoyed fishing and dining at Golden Corral, with crab legs being his favorite.

Charles was the youngest of seven children. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Erma Petty, Quay Allen, and Deborah Davis; and two brothers: Wayne Allen and Nolan Allen Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Anthony Allen.

Charles met the love of his life, Sharlene Allen, and they were united in marriage in 1975.

He was a devoted father to four children: Sterling Edward Allen, who preceded him in death; Cassandra Vicky McDonald and her husband Robert Johnson; Sheronda Allen and her husband Howard; and Venus Davis.

He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Antonio McDonald, Tyler McDonald, Domarius Frazier, Jon Frazier, and Aubrey Frazier. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Kyair McDonald, Kamari McDonald, and Ariyah McDonald.

Charles also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

On Saturday, May 25, 2025, Charles heard the voice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
