Amy Gaynell Barbee Leslie was born on November 11, 1957 to Elmer and Carrie Barbee. She lived her entire life in the Cleveland area and attended Glenville High School.
Amy loved to sing and dance. As a young girl, she sang in the school choir and took singing and dance lessons in the summer. She was always joining or forming dance groups in the neighborhood and participating in talent shows.
Amy was a very sociable, outgoing thrill seeker. She enjoyed riding the scariest of roller coasters, but she would never get on an airplane. Her favorite pastime was playing cards. She complained about cooking large meals but would plan huge family gatherings during the holidays especially for the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving.
Amy worked for the Kirby Vacuum Company until she suffered an injury causing her to take disability retirement. Even with her own ailments she continued to care for others in need. She cooked, cleaned and transported "Granny" and Deborah until she was physically unable.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Amy is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Carrie, two sisters Claudia and Frances and one brother E. Fred Barbee.
Amy's memory will live on through her children, Shawn, Dominica, Rodney, Brandon and Antoine, her sister, Kathy, eighteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, "adopted family members" and friends.
