Alice Juanita Mixon was born on January 22, 1932, in Jeannette, PA to the union of the late Grant Tillman and Alice Williams Tillman. She had six sisters: Henrietta, Venus, Susie, Willie Mae, Irene, and Jeanette, and three brothers, Ivan, Monroe and Joseph.
Alice was educated in the public school system and graduated from Jeanette High School. At an early age Alice accepted Christ being baptized and becoming a member of Zion Hill. Baptist Church in Jeanette. She loved the lord. After graduating, Alice moved to Cleveland, Ohio and shortly thereafter became a member of East Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she remained a member until her passing.
While attending East Mount Zion, Alice served on the Ladies Guild and the Nurse's Board. She was a member of the Lydia-Mary Akers Missionary Circle Group and was financial secretary of the Christian Aid Society.
In 1994, Alice retired from the Veterans Administration after twenty-five years of service. While working at the VA, she served as a union steward, representing co-workers' employment rights. She departed this life on September 18, 2024.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her husband, Carl Mixon
Alice has left cherished memories with one daughter, Deborah Kirks; one son, Michael Harris; two grandchildren, Andrea Kirks and Terence Kirks (Shawntia); two great-grandsons: Tyler Kirks, and Riley Kirks. As well as generations of nieces, nephews, many neighbors, and dear friends.
