Mrs. Agatha C. Robinson transitioned to Glory on July 23, 2020, at 103 years of age. She was the second of three children born to the late Samuel and Annie Hamilton Clinkscales on March 3, 1917, in Anderson, South Carolina. Agatha fondly recalled that Lucinda Clinkscales, her paternal grandmother, delivered her.
The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1927, and she was educated in the public school system. Agatha united with Second Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and became one of their first Junior Ushers. Her ministry as an Usher and a Missionary Circle member became a lifelong passion. Her late husband, Joseph Robinson, joined her ministry as a Church Usher and served over 25 years with her.
Agatha became a licensed cosmetologist in the 1940s after graduating from Mary Belle Academy School of Cosmetology and served clients on the East and West sides of the city. She loved making fancy hats, wearing and accessorizing them with her designer wardrobe.
She was an active community volunteer and served for many years as a Precinct Committee Member under James Bell in Cleveland’s 11th Ward and later received an appointment and election in that capacity in East Cleveland. She was also a driver for the Red Cross Bloodmobile and retired from the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts in the 1970s.
In 2018, The City of Richmond Heights, Ohio issued “A Resolution of Congratulations to Agatha C. Robinson on her 101st Birthday.” This honor also commemorated the 101st birthday of that city.
