Lawrence McMichael was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 23, 1952. He was the youngest of seven children born to the late Lilly Bell and Marion J. McMichael, Sr. Preceding him in death are his siblings, Eartha McMichael Elridge, Evelyn McMichael Love, and Fred McMichael.
Lawrence began his Christian journey by attending Beth-El A.M.E. Zion Church and accepting Jesus Christ at an early age.
Lawrence was educated in the Cleveland Public School System. After high school, he acquired a variety of skills and excelled at working with his hands. He was a self-taught auto mechanic, a certified H.V.A.C. technician, a certified welder, and a commercial truck driver. He worked for Cleveland R.T.A., U.S. Steel, and the U.S. Postal Service.
Lawrence was a stylish dresser with a range of interests. One of his many hobbies was music. He not only enjoyed listening to music but also taught himself to play the bass guitar and was a member of a local band for 5 years. Another hobby was fishing; he enjoyed both catching and eating fish.
Lawrence transitioned from Earth to Heaven on December 21, 2023. He is survived by his son, Damien Spearman, and daughter, Lauren Jordan; four grandchildren - Damien Jr., London, Peyton, and Deon; siblings, Mary Ann McMichael Wade (Donald, Sr.), Marion McMichael, Jr., Calvin P. McMichael (Rosetia); brother-in-law, John Elridge, Jr.; sister-in-law, Carol McMichael, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
