Obituary for Charlotte N. Brooks

Charlotte Natalan Brooks, the second child and daughter born to the late Nathaniel E. Morrison, Sr and Gloria B. Wood was born on January 1, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Charlotte was baptized at an early age. Charlotte was a life time member of St. Aloysius Church. Charlotte was educated in the Parochial School System, first attending Holy Trinity and completing her education at St. Peters in Cleveland, Ohio. After completion of High school, Charlotte began her career of 35 years with AT&T phone company (formally Ohio Bell), and retired in 2009.

Charlotte and David were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Tonya and Shonda Brooks. They shared an exceptionally close bond. It was a common occurrence for the four of them to have pop up dates. Tonya and Shonda were not only her daughters but also her best friends.

Charlotte had four granddaughters, Kayla, Kori, Willo and Shai. They were her world and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. It was nothing for her to hop in the car and travel to Bowling Green to pick Kori up from school. She also picked up Willo from school daily. Kayla gave Charlotte and David their first great grandson, Zelle. He quickly became attached to her hip and she loved it! Even their many shopping trips to “Just a Buck.”

Charlotte joined Sojourner Truth Temple #881 in September 1989. She was the Daughter Ruler for three terms and Vice Daughter Ruler at the time of her passing.

Charlotte was an honest woman who loved the Lord. Charlotte was all about family and family meant everything to her. She was the organizer of most family functions. Charlotte was the type of person you couldn’t help but love after first meeting her. Charlotte’s laughter was contagious. If you were fortunate enough to be called her friend, you were blessed. Although Charlotte had two daughters, there were so many others that referred to her as Momma Brooks. Charlotte departed this life on her birthday, January 1, 2019.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel Morrison, Sr. and Gloria B. Wood; her brother, Nathaniel Morrison, Jr. and sister, Gaynelle Eppinger.

Charlotte leaves to cherish her loving memories to her husband of fifty years, David Brooks; two daughters, Tonya (Will) and Shonda; four granddaughters, Kayla, Kori, Willo and Shai; two great grandsons, Zelle and DJ; one brother, Roy Morrison (Everlenia); three sisters, Dora Roberson, Gloria Jones Reynolds and Ruth Talbert (Norman); one aunt, Bernice Taylor (Arthur) of Silver Springs, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
